Experience
*Energetic, experienced, learning coach using evidence-based teaching practices!* Hello! I am tutor that prepares students for many different avenues of learning. I am also a student studying Speech-Language Pathology, and have three years of experience working with learners of various learning needs. I have coached elementary, middle, and high school students with and without disabilities. My sessions are high energy and are rooted in the core practices of fluency-based instruction and standard measurement. These strategies allow students to gain high levels of accuracy, in addition, to speed (also known as fluency) with small basic skills, which transfer into larger composite skills. Using this system of teaching and measurement has a transformative nature for all students. It allows both the student and myself to identify the progress of each individual's learning at every moment of instruction. In addition, I employ strategies from Direct Instruction, which helps systematically instruct students on new concepts and skills in short periods of time. Areas of Interest/Experience: Fluency-based Instruction, Standard Measurement, Direct Instruction, progress monitoring, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, developmental disabilities, low performing students, gifted learners, adult learners, reading instruction (at various levels- comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, etc.), basic math instruction, study strategies. I particularly enjoy working with unmotivated students, especially those with a history of aversive school experiences. Resume/References available upon request.
