Experience

I have tutored briefly at my high school through the National Honor Society. Last year, I was recommended to another student as a Spanish tutor by my teacher, and I volunteered as a Reading Specialist for a second grade ESOL classroom. I have worked with children in a number of positions including teaching a Religious Education class at church, camp counseling, babysitting, teaching piano lessons, and as the director of a Middle School Youth Group program. My combined score on the SAT was 2120. I took 8 AP classes during my high school career and got a 4 or a 5 on all of the tests: World History (4), US History (5), Spanish Language (4), English Language (5), English Literature (5), US Government (5), Comparative Government (4), Statistics (5). So far in college, I have taken several English General Education classes, as well as a number of Spanish classes and an Introduction to Education class. This summer, I studied in Spain for two months, and I consider myself functionally fluent in Spanish. I will have my first practicuum in an elementary classroom in the spring. I was one of the valedictorians of my high school class, the Youth Ministry Volunteer of the Year, the Knights of Columbus Outstanding Young Woman of the Year, a Sunrise Youth Optimist Award winner (for doing more than 1,000 hours of community service during high school), and, last year, one of 12 recipients of the Virginia Teaching Loan Scholarship Program. I served on the Student Council of the Catholic Campus Ministry program this past year, and I also lead the Women's Group there and am the secretary of the Dukes for Life club.

I love to play the piano, sing, write, and read. I have the travel bug and I want to see the whole world! Broadway musicals are my favorite, and I love comedies, too. I love the great outdoors, going on adventures, and trying new things. I am a fun but very responsible and organized person looking to get some educational experience and help a few great kids out on the way!
