Education

I am a junior Political Science Major, Communication Studies Major, and Spanish Minor at James Madison University. I have a 3.7 Cumulative GPA.

Experience

I have tutored my sister informally throughout the years and often help friends or underclassmen with their studies. Relevant SAT scores: Reading: 650 Writing: 760 Relevant AP scores: US History: 4 English Language: 4 Psychology: 5 US Government: 5 Although I did not attempt the AP Spanish exam, I did well in the course and have been studying Spanish for eight years. Relevant Undergraduate Coursework: United States Government United States History Critical Writing for College The Processes of Human Communication Spanish Grammar and Writing Spanish Oral and Written Presentation Global Politics Critical Issues in Recent Global History Elementary Statistics General Psychology Introduction to Developmental Psychology I would like to be a tutor because I was helped greatly by a math tutor in high school and I have seen first-hand what a big difference a tutor can make not only academically, but also with boosting a student's self- confidence. I'd like to take what I've learned and be able to use it to help someone else achieve their goals or get help in something with which they struggle.

Hobbies

I was originally admitted to JMU as a Vocal Performance major, but changed my mind at the last second. I spent my high school years performing in various choirs, taking voice and dance classes, and taking part in a number of theatre productions. I had a pretty hectic schedule which could be stressful at times, but it also taught me excellent time management skills. In college, I'm serving as the Vice President for the Association for Women in Communications and am serving on the Honor Council. I've also had the opportunity to start taking dance classes again. Of course, when I'm not involved in extracurricular activities I spend a lot of my time studying. I enjoy learning and want to leave college knowing that I really put forth my best effort with everything I attempted.
