Experience
My dad is the owner of the Virginia Express Hockey team and he is also the coach. One of his standards is for his players to keep a good academic standing in school. I was his team's tutor. I would travel with him to every practice and tutor the students that needed help before-hand. I also traveled to elementary schools to help younger children read. I am now a Junior in college and have just picked up a job tutoring 3 young girls in French. I was born in Montreal, Canada and can speak fluently. I really enjoy tutoring and finding different ways to attack french concepts including grammar. Although I am a French major, I have a double-minor in Secondary Education and Biology. I would love to teach high school someday. I think that this would be a great oppurtunity for me and the students I get to tutor! I enjoy watching people learn and I love the feeling of making someone understand something they hadn't before. If they don't understand me the first time, I try to approach the concept a different way. I believe that every student is different and every student has different needs. Teachers must understand their students and approach learning accordingly. In high school, I was at the top ten percent of my class and had a 3.9 g.p.a. I was in the National Honor Society (we also went to other schools to tutor) and many other clubs. I was the president of SADD and in this club we tried to rear students into making good life decisions. I would love the oppurtunity to tutor high school students!
