Ashley S.
Private tutor in Harrisonburg, VA
Education
James Madison University, BA Degree Dual major in Media Arts and Design (Corporate Communications) and Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish) Graduating May 2010 GPA: 3.3 (Good Standing)
Experience
I have previous experience teaching 3rd-grade students in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republican. Primarily taught English. Furthermore, I will be assisting ESL students in the classroom at Kiester Elementary School in Harrisonburg, VA, as part of a 400 level Spanish course. Though I am not an education major, I love working with children. I grew up working with tutors, and understand the positive experience (both socially and academically) of having someone to look up to. I was an active high school student, having been a Girl Scout, President of the animal advocacy club, Secretary for the National Honor Society, and Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper. Most of my recent college classes are 300 and 400 level Spanish courses, as well as courses in my Media Arts and Design major, emphasizing writing and oral communication on a multitude of levels.

Hobbies
I have many hobbies and interests, one being a love for travel! Last spring, I lived and studied in Salamanca, Spain for four months as part of James Madison University's study abroad program. Furthermore, I've taught English in the Dominican Republic with JMU's Alternative Spring Break program. Additional hobbies include writing for the university's student newspaper, participating in philanthropy work with my sorority, and most recently, job hunting! I hope to find a position working in Public Relations near my family in Baltimore, MD.
