I've worked in the JMU writing center since my freshman year of college. I normally work with undergraduates, though I have helped a few graduate students with their papers. As a writing tutor, I help students with things like grammar, style, usage, organization and defending arguments. I have spent a good deal of time becoming familiar with all of the major ideas and arguments in my discipline (Philosophy). My specialty is ethics, but I know a fair amount about the other branches of philosophy as well. My SAT scores are 740 (writing) 730 (reading) and 730 (math). I am not a fluent Spanish speaker, but I have a good vocabulary and am familiar with all but the most difficult rules of Spanish grammar. I feel that I would be prepared to tutor someone in a lower level Spanish class, or even someone who just wants to learn the language.
