David J.
Private tutor in Harrisonburg, VA
Education
I am a studio art major concentrating in computer animation at James Madison University going into my senior year to finish my BFA.
Experience
I have been a JMU computer animation tutor for one year and a freelance bass guitar instructor for five years. I work with youth through my church and just recently got back from a mission trip to Cayman Brac working with underprivileged youth in August 2010. I excel in all classes including the basic gen-eds (math, English, history, etc.), did excellent on my SATS, and currently hold a 3.5 GPA. I have been recognized for my academic achievements and am a member of golden key, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Sigma Alpha Lambda, and Kappa Pi, all of which are honors societies. I want to be a tutor because I grew up with Dysgraphia (a written learning disability) and have personally seen the impact tutors can make. I have come a long way and want to provide the same experiences I had growing up. My mother is a preschool teacher and I am the oldest of three helping to raise my two younger siblings, so tutoring and experience with children is a big part of my life.

Hobbies
I love art and more specifically 3d computer animation, which I will pursue after graduating. I play music with bands here at school and back at home as a hobby. My friends tell me I’m an extremely optimistic person with lots of motivation, humor, and a very kind personality. My family and past employers have always commented on my strong leadership skills and great work ethic.
